Produced by Amiel Matthews The Music Clip: Behind the scenes and VFX of the Hellvette short film. @hellvetteshortfilm was selected for the West End Film Festival (Brisbane, Aus.) and Lake County Film Festival (Chicago, USA) and is currently (at the time of this uploading) continuing the film festival rounds. The idea for Hellvette spawned from playing the Playstation 1 game 'Twisted Metal' in 2001 (yes I'm that old). Escaped asylum patients killing each other with modded muscle cars seemed like a fun time, and inspired the song 'See you on the inside'. See You On The Inside: In 2002 we were playing a metal band and recorded a version of the song while I was studying Audio Engineering. We would fantasise about the film clip that we would make if the opportunity ever arose. It didn't, and the idea lay dormant. Fast forward to 2022. Through attending car meets with my son, I met Cris, the owner of a two tone, 1978 C3 Corvette called HELLVETTE. Half Black, half yellow, it was bagged, had side pipes and fat tires. It is a beast! I'd recently re-recorded a new version of 'See you on the inside' (in my home studio) that was more in line with what I always heard in my head. As Simon is not the singer he once was I faced a dilemma. How to recreate the glorious vocal takes from the original recording 20 years earlier? Thanks to modern technology and a little audio engineering know-how, I pulled the vocals from the original recording and tweaked them to fit the new version. I now saw some semblance of how our original film clip idea could be brought to life. As the story took shape it became obvious it needed to be more than a film clip, and hence the short film script was born.

My Life. This is the piece I created after winning the commission to compose the finale song for the inaugural Raise Your Voice Choral Festival. The festival was a means to bring community choirs together which included the choirs of tertiary institutions. For international students singing in their local choir was a proven success for aiding their integration into their local communities while assisting them in bettering their english skills. My song needed to represent the international students living in Queensland, their journey in studying abroad, and the Queensland lifestyle.
